*** The Pyramid at Anderston, will be running a Weekly Pop-up for primary aged children in their area (G3 7 and G3 8 postcodes), starting on 4th June for 10 weeks. Children will be able to come along and pick up a free themed activity pack and goody bag of fruit and snacks and access various activities. They are also looking for volunteers. Food Train Glasgow are a charity that supports older people to maintain their independence at home by providing access to fresh groceries on a weekly basis. They are continuing to support the over 65s in Glasgow throughout the Covid-19 outbreak and still have capacity to take on new service users across the City.

Glasgow’s Golden Generation(GGG) have just launched a major Covid-19 appeal via justgiving. GGG have had to alter the usual service delivery and are currently running a food/essentials delivery campaign for any older adults in Glasgow. In addition, GGG are still delivering (remotely) crucial services within befriending and benefits/welfare support to the older adults. All GGG services have hugely increased since the start of the pandemic with hundreds of phone calls every single day. With additional support they can reach those in desperate need all over Glasgow – a donation can be made via this link – www.justgiving.com/campaign/ggg-covid-19-crisis-appeal.
The Food Train
Since the COVID-19 crisis emerged Food Train has been working to not only ensure that the grocery delivery service continues, but to also increase capacity. If you know an older person aged 65+ that needs assistance with grocery shopping on a temporary or permanent basis then Food Train has 7 branches across Scotland. In addition to support with food shopping, Food Train have also set up regular befriender calls for all customers to check-in with their well-being and provide much needed social contact. Creativity Connects Free Isolation Activities
Whiteinch Community Centre, in response to the closure of the centre and their classes and activities, have worked to bring a few activities online via Creativity Connects.
They have also created activity packs to go out to local communities. New packs and videos are made every week. Victim Support Scotland are working hard to continue the level of support they always provide to people affected by crime, and have put additional resources into their free helpline and webchat service, available 8am – 8pm, Monday to Friday. Anyone affected by crime can call the helpline on 0800 160 1985 or access webchat service through https://victimsupport.scot/ for free and confidential support.
Victim Support Scotland is also administering the Victims’ Fund, which supports people affected by crime through financial hardship with payments of up to £3,000 for goods and services.
