Tam Munro, the Network’s former Chair passes away after a long illness.

It is with great sadness that the Network announces the passing of our former Chair Tam Munro on 13th January 2024 at St Margaret’s Hospice. Tam chaired the Network until 2022 and was a passionate champion of both the Third Sector and local communities in North West Glasgow.

Tam was instrumental in creating, leading, and nurturing the Network. He gave a voice to the Voluntary Sector in the North West. He was the Voluntary Sector Representative in the Glasgow City Council Community Planning Partnership Area and Sector Partnerships. An unparalleled community activist, he leaves a legacy in so many organisations and communities in the Dumbarton Road Corridor and beyond.

In his own words, Tam’s key goal was to “have a positive impact on the lives of ordinary people in communities and influence the mindsets of bureaucracy and politicians.” A goal which he achieved many times over. His knowledge, experience, skill at forming relationships, fearlessness in challenging power and holding decision makers accountable will be greatly missed.

Tam’s funeral will take place at Drumchapel St Marks Church on Monday 29th January at 2.45pm. Everyone is then invited to Yoker Resource Centre to share memories with the family. No flowers please but if you wish you can make a donation to either St Margaret’s Hospice or the Beatson Charity in memory of Tam.

We are sending our thoughts and heartfelt condolences from the Board, staff and everyone at the Network to Suzie, all his family and friends at this very sad time.
