Creating & Managing Effective Mailchimp Email Campaigns

The Future of Social Media Workshop

Ross McCulloch, founder of Third Sector Lab and a leading voice in digital strategy for the third sector, is set to deliver a dynamic workshop titled The Future of Social Media.

This short, power-packed session will guide participants through emerging trends, innovative tools, and forward-thinking strategies to elevate their social media presence. Designed specifically for charities and community groups, the workshop will offer practical insights into leveraging new platforms, harnessing AI-driven content creation, and adapting to evolving digital landscapes.

The Future of Social Media workshop will provide attendees with the opportunity to explore how changing algorithms, generative AI, and shifting audience behaviours impact digital communication. Ross will draw on his extensive experience with organisations like SCVO and his leadership at Third Sector Lab to share actionable tips and real-world examples.

A key focus will be on making informed platform choices, navigating the ethics of social media use, and evaluating the potential of emerging and evolving platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Bluesky, Meta’s evolving ecosystem, and TikTok. Participants will delve into how to balance reach and engagement with ethical considerations, ensuring alignment with their organization’s values.

How to have Effective Conversations with Politicians/councillors 
📅 Wednesday 19th March 12.30-3.30pm
📌 The Courtyard – Westercommon, 2 Westercommon Drive, Glasgow, G22 5PG

This will be an in-person workshop, run by Hope for the Future, in partnership with Nature Neighbourhoods RSPB, for local organisations and groups keen to engage with their politicians and have effective conversations with their politicians/councillors on nature and climate issues. Even if you are just considering your first raised bed or growing space or are interested in doing more nature based activities this workshop will be helpful for your to have conversations with your local council and elected members.

It will run from 12.30 for lunch and networking. Workshop runs 1pm – 3.30pm followed by an optional tour round Hamiltonhill Claypits Local Nature Reserve.

In the workshop Hope for the Future will cover their relationship-building approach, looking at how we can build positive, collaborative relationships with our politicians. We’ll then move on to looking more at the specific political landscape in Glasgow and how participants can engage effectively with their councillors and MSPs in particular. There will also be an opportunity to meet and put questions to an elected member in NW Glasgow. Followed by an optional walk around Hamiltonhill Claypits.

REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene
📅 Tuesday 25th March (9am-4.30pm)
📌In-person at either Anniesland or Langside college campus TBC

The REHIS (Royal Environmental Health Institute for Scotland) Elementary Food Hygiene course meets the demands of food hygiene for those working in food services. The course covers all aspects of safe food handling to ensure participants have a high level of knowledge and understanding of the existing legislation and best practices of food handling.

It also covers the management of the working environment including cleaning practices, common pests which are found with food and how to control them, and personal hygiene of those handling the food.

A few things to note about our training:

  • In order to offer free training to as many organisations as possible, we can only allow one booking per organisation for each training.
  • Training is offered FREE to our members, however this training is not free to the network. Please do not book a place if you do not intend to use it.
  • If you have booked training and cannot attend- please let us know as soon as possible (at least 48 hours in advance or sooner), to give us time to offer your place to someone else.
  • This training is for members only. If you are not a member of North West Glasgow Voluntary Sector Network, we reserve the right to cancel your booking
  • We want to keep offering free training to members so thank you for your cooperation!
